Which windows are you using? 10 Vs 11

Haha, I was going to say he's ballsy running the risk 15 days after the EOL :D

Ah nasty, I just use Rufus to remove that requirement along with TPM. As for OneDrive, that's the first thing I disable then uninstall :P
Are you not tempted to just buy a cheap key elsewhere for W11 and be done with it, and then run off into the unix sunset ;)

Yeah that makes sense, you can't really loose whichever distro you use if it works for you, then it works, I haven't used Bazzite myself, but I was under the impression it does a lot of it for you/is already nearly ready to go, so less faff/learning?
Thought I could still upgrade my W10 key to 11? - If they've pulled to rug on that then I'm even more annoyed about the whole ordeal! I haven't paid for Windows since I bought XP Pro SP2 for £16.
Current W10 Pro install was upgraded from a 7 pro license that I got free when I was a student around 15 years ago :D (only used the MS login option as it seemed the easiest way to port the license to a new system when I upgraded my Sandy Bridge to Ryzen in 2017!)

Ah yeah haha I totally forgot about that  My bad dude! This heat I swear :P
Haha nice! Yeah I just buy a key for cheap elsewhere for each system that I build and I've never had an issue with any of the keys :) I think I pushed the boat out and paid an extra 65 pence for the professional version of W10/11

11 because I like to be on the latest plus it has HDR features that 10 doesn't. For all the moaning about it, I rarely have any issues with it, I think 8 was the last one I had a number of issues with.

My 2015 skylake pc still has win 10 for mainly games, and my new pc with win 11 on, with a few latest games and general stuff, use the win 10 mainly thou.

I went with 11 quite early on primarily for the HDR features. I've locked it down to v23H2 though so my Reverb G2 VR headset still works (v24H2 removes Windows Mixed Reality. The *****.) I have just bought a Pimax Crystal Light though so will likely put the G2 out to pasture.

Much as I loathe Billy boy and his technocratic ilk, I don't have any real issues at all with Win11 from a user/ gaming perspective.

Win 11 here have not encountered any issues with gaming or anything in general since upgrading.

For anyone contemplating a fresh install of W11 24H2, create the install media using Rufus and make sure to turn off the Bitlocker encryption, by default W11 now encrypts your SSD.

I haven't actually done a clean 24H2 installation yet but it really should not be doing that before giving the user an option even if the default is on...

Wouldn't argue that, no reason it can't be an option during the OOBE along with a warning about storing the recovery key.
