Which windows to get?

Which operating system should i get as ill be getting one very soon.
Its between XP Pro, XP Home or XP Media center, it'll be used for primarily for gaming.

My setup is:-
C2D E6600 627 B stepping
Abit A9 Quad motherboard
2GB Gskill 6400HZ
XFX 8800GTS 320MB XXX

Ive not mentioned Vista because I use Autocad 2006 when i work at home and i know it doesnt run on Vista??

Any help will be top!

If it's mainly for gaming then XP Home would make the sensible choice.
It's by far the cheaper of the three OS's and as AutoCAD 2006 runs on all 3 I'd go for the cheapest one.

This is correct.
Only AutoCad 2007 and 2008 have Vista support.
AFAIK only AutoCad 2008 has 64bit OS Support.

Does XP pro just have a few network things thats extra that wont make any difference to me?

Just take a look at the features and see if there's anything on there you need.

If not you should get XP home, slightly cheaper.

And rather than paying a few grand for CAD 07/08 and then whatever it is for Vista, so ill stick with XP home then! Saying that i supposed i could dual boot and get Vista for gaming and XP Home for my works stuff

Basicaly speaking - yes.
It does have a few other features built in as well, however if you really needed them there are free third party pieces of software that work equally well.
The biggest difference between XP Home & Pro are that you can log onto a Windows Domain with XP Pro (most people run a Workgroup at home rather than a Domain).

Second hand copy of XP Home is what you need. Expect to pay around 20 - 25 quid.

^^ No mate but i got mine from a Wanted add in M&M & was offered two only lat week. Hopefully someone will offer you one through this thread
