which windows to xp or not to xp

Yeh so whatever and stuff, but I was wondering if I should invest in xp proffessional to work in harmony with my potential 64bit athlon processor?

Or should I wait for Vista in January? thanks for any replys this is for a friend.

You mean XP Pro x64, as opposed to XP Pro x86?

I don't think its worth the upgrade tbh. Well not if you have to fork out for it anyway.

download windoows xp 64bit trial, which is available on ms web site, free trial for 180 days i think it is,

Then get vista in jan

Check your hardware.

32bit drivers don't work in XP 64. Thus you need to make sure all your components have 64bit drivers available. This is best done BEFORE upgrading

But in my personal opinion if you want a 64bit OS, go for a linux solution. OR dual boot XP pro with Linux SuSe or something.

Stick to 32bit until vista released - 64 bit has a lot compatibility problems
