which wireless card?

hi all. my m8 wants to put a wireless card in his pc if possible. hes got a ASUS M4A78LT-M - Motherboard - micro ATX - AMD 760G but we were unsure whether or not we could use a wireless card as hes got a 1GB XFX HD 5850, PCI-E 2.1 (x16) in the pci slot. can he still put one in? which card would you recomend? nothing to expensive though. thanx

Looks like you can fit a PCI wireless card in there but it will be right next to the graphics card.

Theoretecially you could fit a 1x PCI-E card above the graphics card provided the card chosen is a short one such as http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-004-TP&groupid=46&catid=1597&subcat=

As you can see from this page OcUK seem to be short of network card options right now.

How far is the PC from the router roughly?

I find the PCI cards have better coverage than USB unless they are supplied with an aerial.

not sure how far its gona b as the router needs to be moved first. but mite give the usb one a go if it doesnt work ill have to try a internal one

I have one of these Edimax jobbies and it's awesome.

I'm on the third floor of the house through numerous brick walls and the router is on he ground floor behind a cupboard and I get full signal strength, not bad for £11.
