hi guys,

router has packed in here so looking for a new wireless one.. i run a cable network so it will need some ethernet outputs.

Whats the best on the market at the moment?

I will be using this to provide wireless access for a laotop, then run a cable into a hub upstairs where two more machines are connected..

Any recommendations?

That'spretty much any wireless router going so far, anything specifically you will be using it for that would narrow things down ? Are you a gamer ? Do you do a lot of P2P ?

Look at different/latest models of the main makes (Linksys, Netgear, Dlink). I generally find they all are good enough quality for home use, and do what they say towards speed, features etc.

Recently I got a Netgear RangeMax router for a bargain :) Brilliant router and signals improved greatly.

il be doing some gaming and a little p2p..

i was looking at one of the netgear MIMO models but it didnt review very well in other sites.

Out of linksys and netgear is anyone a winner or is it evens?

That's like asking out of AMD and Intel what's best.. that paticular title has gone from one to the other many times since the 386 fiasco making a generic comparison between two brands useless unless you are talking about a specific product in the range of each.

If your laptop is only going to be used for surfing the web and email (you didn't elaborate much) then anything you get should be fine, for p2p use i'm assuming you are going to be using the main PC's, check the maximum connections that each router can support, most modern routers can handle P2P's high connection demands without falling over like older generations do.
