Need a new adaptor for moving back into my parents . Distance i around 10 metres through approx 3 walls. It's to work with latest BT Homehub.

OS = vista x64

Budget of around £35 - anyone have any suggestions? :)

for gaming i really wouldnt use wifi especially through 3 walls, ideally you want either wired ethernet cat5 or cat6 OR at a push you could use Ethernet home plugs

In your parents home you may not want to be pulling carpets up for the cable so the homeplugs may be the best option, i bought some a while ago for my son and they work quite well, he played cod 4/5 for a while using them and never had any issues with ping or drop outs

If you know where to look you can find 200 Mbps Homeplugs for about £50/pair. Bought 2 sets a while back and no more CAT5 wires running across the house and peeing off the missus! :D

Couldnt use the cable and my wireless seems to be dropped even when using my brothers USB stick. It just drops it every few mins and then fights to get it back. I've opted for some £50 network plugs which have solid reviews.

Will post back on how they work!!!

Let me know how you get on.

I had the same issue and used a Linksys Wireless USB for 7.99.

Been brilliant and no dropped connections.

Gaming with wireless with one wall is bad enough, would be a nightmare with 3. Let us know how the power line ones do.

Well.. I missed UPS once but they came back same day yay.

Well, the instructions with £50 adaptors were confusing...

I began by using the bundled software on my vista PC. It connected using the plugs and I got local connection but no net. So I tried it on my work laptop without the naff software and boom I had internet.

So... I uninstalled the software on my vista PC and just plugged the ethernet cable in... there's internet! No passwords, no rubbish bundled software, it just works. One plug downstairs and one up on the other wise of the house.

Haven't noticed any drops of the net yet - and out of the 8MB broadband package I'm getting:

This is more then my brother on wireless 2metres above the router. All in all I'm happy if it stays this way.

I just need to check it for gaming before I speak too soon!

EDIT: Downloading steam games at 800mb/s :)

Only problem I have is that when I turn on the PC again I have to disable the network then enable it to get internet. Bit weird.

EDIT: seems to be working fine now :)
