Which would you choose?

I am updating a childs PC and have DDR2 to put in it, I will not be overclocking it, so which of the two below would you choose?

1) Pentium E5700/E6600 + G41 mobo

or

2) AMD x3 450 + 740G mobo

Both of these are at about the same price point.

More cores (**could** unlock L3 cache/4th core/both).

Better upgrade routes

Was about to say will overclock better, but that doesn't matter to you!
