Hi guys my first post here although I have lurked on these forums for several months :)

My rig is in sig but i have a choice to make. Recently came into a little bit of cash and am very tempted to buy a 8800gtx on Wednesday. My other option would be to go conroe and keep the current graphics card. Given the choice anyone got an opinion on which way to go?
 
Your cpu should keep you going for a long while yet.

What resolution are you running at as the 8800 will most likely be complete overkill for anything under 1600x1200 at the moment.
 
Welcome to the forums, is there anything that your system can't currently handle? I'd have thought it would still be well capable of playing games at those resolutions. Conroe isn't likely to make that much of a difference, it is more of a sideways step for you unless you will be overclocking a fair bit and even then it won't make a huge difference to framerates. :)
 
Your system is still very much high end and even at that resolution you shouldn't be hitting too many problems in running anything at high settings. I'd save the money for an upgrade in 6 months time when new games start to push the limits of your current system.
