both brand new

Zotac GTX285 £285
Zotac GTX295 £370

also for anyone that has had the 285 and 295 is there much difference in noise between those cards at idle?

btw im not a heaving gamer but i like to play a 1920x1200

Which games do you play?

I'd probably go for the 285.

If you have a 280 already, I would just stick with that though.

I play Crysis Warhead, Fear 2 and Far Cry 2 atm

iv got a 280 i got it used so no warranty and the card has a very loud buzz/whine to it so im selling it (got a buyer for £200)

That could just be capacitor squeel.

If you want to get the eye candy up on warhead, go for the 295. I'd just go for the 285 myself though.

Judging from your sig, you already have a 285, so why not just overclock it yourself, instead of paying for it to be overclocked, and id take a 4870x2 over a 295, as its around same perforamnce, but cheaper, so you could save money there to. :)

I've just sold the GTX280 as it had that high pitched noise that some cards have, it was way too much for me to handle and I got it used so no warranty.

I want to buy one of the above (285 or 295) money isn’t a issue but no point laying out an extra £100 if I don’t see much improvement over the 285, performance wise the 280 was fine had frame rate issues on Crysis dropping to 20fps at 1920x1200 x4 AA other than that it was fine

4870x2 is in the £400 mark so not really cheaper than the GTX295 I’ve found for £370?

Think its ok but personally would get a 4870x2 as like Loadsamoney said it performs around the same and can be had for £330.

Went for the GTX295 as ir runs quieter at full tilt and was only £50 more also gives me a HDMI port without use of a adaptor. I think the Nvidia cards hold a better resale value tho I could be wrong.

Thats a poor choice IMO, should have gone for the 4870x2, same performance, better value.

If its resale is anything like Nvidias stock price, its going down quickly.
