Which WOW realm?

There's brand new realms coming up next week which would probably be a good start for someone new to the game as there'll be plenty of other low level players to group with.

PvP means you can be attacked anytime (ie = ganked, normally) in all level 20+ zones. Most PvP occurs in Battlegrounds though, where you and a small group of other players join up to fight a group from the opposite faction.

PvE realms on the other hand, you need to enable PvP before someone can attack you out and about. They also have Battlegrounds so you can still PvP but without the hassle of being attacked when you're trying to do something else.

Personally Battlegrounds killed PvP in my opinion as before on PvP realms there was active world PvP (where pitched battles were fought) and it lived up to the name World of Warcraft.

Well, I'm just away to restart on a new realm when they come out next week so if you want to wait for then. Think there's a few other peeps off the forum looking to restart as well.

Laughing Skull is currently low pop PvP and has very little outdoor PvP to speak of too. Just have a look at the Realm Forum on the WoW site for various hordies whineing about the lack of "proper" PvP. If you want PvP without much actual PvP then Laughing Skull is the place.

Not sure why anyone would want to play PvE. People are a lot more polite if they think that you could kill them.

If they are rude you can put an exe in their head.

It doesnt cost anything to be nice. :)

That's because the Horde outnumber the Alliance by far, so they can just gang any solo players they see ;).

In my opinion, at end game it's not so much about spontaneous fights, but either battlegrounds or pve raiding. It is much easier for someone new to the game to start out on a pve server, as it gives you more time and space to explore new areas without being killed.
