I'm currently looking into upgrading my Hercules Prophetview 920 Pro DVI (rolls of the tongue doesn't it?) to a widescreen tft and was looking at either the Dell 2007WFP or the Samsung 225BW, the latter mainly for it's looks.

The Samsung, being silver, would suit my setup better than the Dell but I'm not quite sure If I need a screen that big. I have also come to the conclusion from reading various reviews that the Dell seems to have a better panel, although it also seems that the panel in the Dell can vary batch to batch so you have no idea what you are getting.

I do some gaming on the pc but not as much as I used to, watch quite a lot of video and a little image editing so it would seem a bit of a mixed bag as to what tft would be best suit my needs as the Samsung has the lower ms for gaming while the Dell would seem to be better for everything else.

My questions are what differences are there between the panels Dell provide in the 2007WFP and do you think there would be much of a difference between the 16ms Dell and the 5ms Samsung for gaming (taking into account the 20ms on the Hercules was "fine" for me).

If possible would people who have bought the Dell recently be able to check which panel they have received.

I'm also open to any other suggestions for a suitable tft around £300.

I have just got my 2007wfp and it is excellent. Quite a step up from my 17 inch LG 1780U. I have played both battlefield 2142 and FEAR on the monitor wth no issues in terms of ghosting etc....I dont know what panel I have though but I would def recommend it.

Keep having to post this, but don't pay too much attention to the response time for the 2007WFP. If you get the IPS panel (which it seems >90% do) then it's as quick as any widescreen around, more like 4 or 5 ms than 16 ms. I'm guessing since they sell it with two panel types they have to use the spec of the slower PVA panel when selling it, even though most of the screens are the quicker IPS.

Baddass compared the 2007WFP (IPS) to the SM205BW (20" version of the 225BW) and found the Dell was a touch quicker if anything.

The 2007WFP isn't perfect though, black depth isn't the best hence the 700:1 contrast ratio.
