All seem pretty much different and all under £400 which is my budget.

I'm not quite sure what the contrast ratio is. i.e is hiigher better?

Also, what is know as ghosting.

Cheers

I've heard good things about the NEC and the Dell ones that you list.

Reckon the NEC will probably come out on top - it seems to be very popular.

Belinea 102035W- doesn't have 1:1 native mode on the panel. The Philips has the following

Full-screen
Native mode
Fill with Aspect

have a look at this article written for people in exactly your position. Should help explain the pros and cons of each as well as help you to understand the differences between the technologies each of those uses :) Give me a shout if you like on emails too mate

I have the 19" version of the ViewSonic (well three of them to be precise), and they are excellent, claer, not ghosting, good colour depth, generally very good,

Obviously I'm gonna say the NEC since I'm a happy owner of one, but it really is a lovely monitor. Its jam packed feature-wise, excellent response times and colour reproduction....best 20" widescreen on the market right now imho

The Gateway FPD2185W. It's 21", has DVI-D, VGA, component, composite and s-video inputs and a whole array of features including HDCP-compliancy and DCDi. Specs are 1000:1 contrast ratio, 8ms response time and 300cd/m2. It's also cheaper than most of the others mentioned.

Of those though, I'd say the Dell.

Another vote from an NEC user!!!

Colours are rich and vibrant, gaming with this monitor is a pleasure!!!

Went from a 20" CRT to an NEC and it still makes my smile to use it after 6 months....

You won't be sorry if you purchased one imo ;)

looks like the NEC for the win then.. You all use it for gaming though yeah..

Thanks Baddass.. I might take you up on that if I have any questions... and thanks for the link btw :)

But it's sooooo expensive:-
- It's almost three times the price of say a Belinea 1925 19".
- Two hundred pounds more than a Hyundai ImageQuest N91W 19".
- And over £100 more than a Belinea 102035W 20.1".
