My launch 360 premium is goosed. (3RLOD)

I havent go a clue what to get for xmas from my parents so I thin I will get a new Xbox. Which one should I be getting? (I know Im 26 and still getting presents like this from my parents and its quite sad before anyone opens their mouth) have they changed much since I got mine? I believe there is an elite version now? I have a PS3 aswell which is hooked up via HDMI and my 50" plasma only has one HDMI Port!
should i get an elite or just get an arcade and put my old hard disk in?

Im confused!
help.

As you already have a hard drive, just get an arcade. You can carry on using your wireless controller too, as well as the component cable.

If however you think you will want to install your games on your hard drive for silent operation, you might want to consider paying the extra £40 (I think) for the 60GB premium version that you can get now.

60GB Premium edition is the way forwards, Check my thread on my evolving 360 for reasons from me & others.

how much can i get all the models for now? i saw the arcade for £99 in a shop on the highstreet which seems silly cheap!

The 60GB Premium model can be picked up for £160 nowadays sometimes with games and the Elite is ussually around £230 with games.

You're looking at getting 4 games bundled with a Premium for 160 quids. Get the right games & that is cheap as chips.

I got a very good deal on a 60GB premium. It was £188 - "Limited Edition Gears of War" bundle (with GOW 1 + 2), and it also included farcry 2 and sega superstar tennis and PGR4.

The etailer I got it from sent me the wrong one though, they decided to send me the Arcade console for some reason :S :S :S and didn't even include GOW 1+2, so I sent it back.

After a phone call, and a few emails they have dispatched me the 60GB premium console, but it still doesn't look like they have sent me GOW 1+2 (and they have not confirmed this via email as of yet..). The limited edition GOW bundle is still advertised as "in stock" on their website too.

I ordered the bundle on the 4/12/08 too, so its taking a ruddy long time to get what I ordered! Oh and not to mention I had to send the arcade console back to them via their "free post" label on my receipt, and ask for proof of delivery - lucky I did as I had to scan it in and email it to them before they would send me a new console as they said that my package might have been lost in the post!!

It's best to use the deals you find online to haggle in a local shop, This way you avoid all the usual Interweb pitfuls but get the benefits ;)

Actually, the etailer I mentioned also has local stores all over the UK, unfortunatly not close enough for me but I wish I had just gone in to the store and said what was what and got them to replace it with the proper bundle!

I think i will just get the arcade and a couple of games. gears of war 2 any good. any other suggestions?

you dont need the HDMI connection, unless you want to use it for your audio too.. you can connect your 360 through the VGA connection and you will get the same quality picture as the HDMI output.

a lot of peeps dont realise that the only fundamental differences between HDMI and VGA is that HDMI can carry audio and it is HDCP compliant, thats it, HDMI was designed off the back of VGA and makes no difference visually.

I'm pretty sure HDMI wasn't designed off the back of VGA. HDMI was developed as a new AV cable that was backward compatible with DVI.

VGA is an analogue connection, HDMI and DVI are both digital. And there's a world of difference between the two connections on the Xbox.

I personally prefer VGA on my Xbox, as I like the softer look to the image. Some people like HDMI for the crispness. It's all a personal opinion.

I just thought I would add to this. I got an email from the etailer today. They have sent me the wrong console again, I am to refuse delivery and they are going to send me the correct one ASAP. LOL!

Ive not read the posts above but couldnt you try and get MS to warranty replace it? I know its a month off but surely they might still service it...
