ive got a spare £34 quid on credit to buy smt from a well known pc game shop.

what shall i get?

Neverwinter Nights 2? <<

BF2142

Medieval Total War 2

Dark Messiah of Might and magic

or wait and get smt due out before Xmas like..

Eragon? whats this?
Star Trek Legacy from Bethesda

Splinter Cell Double Agent (SC3 Chaos theory was very good)

Anything else out before xmas that looks promising?

i generally like rpgs and online FPS. I already have oblivion (modded) and company of heroes.

Or will i get peripherals like headphones and microphone etc?

Another title that may be worth considering for Xmas is.

RainbowSix-Vegas Dec 1st release...First decent game [I'm discounting Roboblitz] to use the Unreal3 Engine...hopefully will be better than Lockdown, and a better port [sadly what it is] than Splinter Cell DA.

As for your list..this would be my order of prefrence...there all good though.

1.Medieval Total War 2

2.Neverwinter Nights 2

3.Dark Messiah of Might and magic

4.BF2142

And if your adding Splinter Cell...I'd put that 4th.

Oh please...what rubbish....maybe you don't like them, but there far from crap.

His language might have been a bit strong but with the exception of Total War (which itself hasn’t received great reviews) he has a decent point. I like BF2142 but most people prefer BF2, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is broken to the point of being almost unplayable on many systems and Neverwinter Nights 2 doesn’t seem to be living up to expectations.

This year had been a terrible year for PC gaming, apart from Oblivion and COH there hasn’t been much to get excited about and Christmas in particular is looking very weak.

Neverwinter Nights 2?

Not played it, but my friend has it and said its amazing, addictive too.

BF2142

I was going to pick up this but knowing EA from their previous half assed patches for BF2 then their adware in the game (don't care if it doesn't track me or what not, im not buying something so I can fund them further, game should have came out at £20 or less in that case).

Medieval Total War 2

Played the demo, its really good tbh. I didn't really play much of Rome Total War, but after playing this its something to pick up, I'll get it at some point.

Dark Messiah of Might and magic

Played the demo, pretty good but lacks something, but yeah its pretty good. Would have picked up but then found out I needed Steam to run it.

Splinter Cell Double Agent.

Not too sure, still to dl the demo.

The new Rainbow six looks good, I'll be buying that. Also look out for these games which are coming this month/next month:

Oblivion Expansion - 24/11/06
Pacific Storm - 24/11/06
Resident Evil 4 - 8/12/06

Neverwinter Nights 2 or Medieval Total War 2 I'd say. Which one you get depends on which genre you like more.

Off Topic - So Star Trek Legacy's coming out before Christmas  I have to buy it.

I dont about the rest of you but i think the xmas line up this year is pretty poor, only like fps' so that could be why. I thinks rainbow six will be the only game i might buy! Roll on next year! :(

Ps No im not having a bad day lol!

If you've not played the GameCube or PS2 version, Resident Evil 4 is definitely worth playing, should be out December sometime.

well i got bf2142 :D

Good news is that it runs a lot better than the demo 1600 x1200 maxed out runs fine though i might tone it down a bit depending on people numbers in game.

also good is that you go up ranks pretty quick

i think im gunnery gold for support class

bad things

Got owned! on 50 clicks server by some dude killing me then bringing me back to life!! before i could choose to respawn somewhere else :(
(though our team won :D)

hard to tell difference in a nanosecond whether they are friend or enemy! (resulting a couple of tks by me :( )

no widescreen support :( edit: might be a way round this i think..someone mentioned it

LOTs of lag on titans.

EA profile thing wouldnt let me choose the name i used for the demo for my solider. (made it up myself)

But its good, i recommend it to everyone.

Are there any urban maps in 2142? Like proper City maps?

Good choice mate, you'll adjust to the in-game bad stuff you've listed, it's a different way of playing to BF2. The widescreen support is easily overcome, I've got it running @ 1440x900 no sweat.

Well I would recommend Dark Messiah because when it works its awesome. However, I've yet to complete it because it crashes on me after 20 minutes or so of play. This is also happening to all my other source based games so i may just need a re-format but it's darn annoying.

Do you need Steam to run Dark Messiah.

Not if you buy the retail version, it's just like a normal game. I'm running it totally separate to steam because I've run out of space on the partition where steam is installed.
