which xonar?

Technically, I'd say the PCI version is better, as it doesn't need a Floppy Disk power connector.

However, I own the PCI-E version and its all fine except I don't really like the small connector it uses to slot into the motherboard (a bit loose).

The PCI-E version was supposed to be better for Vista (that's what Asus was claiming a while ago).

Tbh, your mate should just buy the cheaper PCI card.

why not save more dosh and get the DX?

i doubt anyone without a seriously high-end setup could hear any perceived differences between it and the D2/D2X ....reviews suggest the same.

Doesn't the d2x support EAX 5 and has LEDs at the back, handy to plug things in without looking at the card.
