Which Z77 motherboard did you go for?

Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H went for Gigabyte because of the better RMA process over Asus (had a mare with them when I tried to RMA a board a few years ago). Chose the UD5H over the 3H because it came with the free cooler I can sell and the front USB 3 panel would be something I would have to buy if it wasn't bundled with the board. Hopefully will get £30 or £40 for the cooler.

Maximus V Gene. Was going to go with a Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3 originally but almost £300 for a z77 board when I probably won't use tri or quad sli or xfire seemed excessive. The gene has had a good review already, overclocks well both CPU and memory, is compact and generally does all I want.

The ASRock Extreme4 does seem a bargain, a lot cheaper than the Z68 version of the same board, which doesn't make much sense.

When you get the board can you confirm how well it fits into your case please. I read that it is not quite full ATX so it won't be fixed as well as full sized boards.

I actually got mine the other day and it fits fine(at least in my CM 690 II), just due to it's narrower width it doesn't reach the right hand side stand offs, but so far I've not had any issues because of it. In fact it's quite handy as you can shove all your fan cables behind the board easier :D

Went for the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H.

Had no real problems with my MSI P67 but just fancied a change this time round.

Was tempted by Asrock but changed my mind with getting the free cooler with the Gigbyte.

Cheers for the reply. It was my only quibble with the board. How are you finding it? I'm not sure whether I should wait until the reviews are posted before buying one.

I've only got a celeron to try in it at the moment so it's a bit hard to say how it copes once you get overclocking but so far I've not had any issues

I find it odd that people are going ASRock for the looks.. Looks are the last thing i look for and the ASRocks don't even look that nice! It's a fairly dull looking black PCB tbh :p

If i was going for any of them it would be Gigabyte or MSI. Much nicer looking boards.

It is annoying that the boards are out before the CPUs.

They will still be there you know when the IB CPU's are out :)

I understand what you mean but not long to wait now and the wait will allow the early adopters to find any major issues with the boards out now. That way you might be better informed when you come to buy.

That's a good point. I've just been waiting a long time to build a new system. At least when the NDA is lifted we'll get detailed range of reviews of Ivy CPUs and motherboards. I might buy the ram today and an SSD which is also on offer.
