Hi,

Is there any brand of PSU that's practically guaranteed not to suffer from coil whine? My Corsair 620w modular is giving me headaches so it's going to have to be replaced. I never noticed it so much before do to case noise but i've almost silenced my PC and its VERY evident now. I don't do SLI and i can budget upto around £100.

If you are using Intel, you could try turning off "speedstep" in bios. this usually stops the noise.

If AMD, maybe it's called "cool and Quiet".

Also, no coil whine from my Seasonic.

I've never had coil whine on any psu yet.
I'm currently using a XFX Pro 650W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

are you sure it's from the psu and not a fan or something?

I never really noticed it before because of fan noise masking it, but my R4 case is running with all fans on lowest settings and haswell cpu at stock with a massive phantek cooler. So now the 'secondary' noises have become much more noticible, it has to be the psu or the gpu. I've removed the gpu to see if the noise fades,

It's not a noise i can actually 'hear', it's like the high pitch in your head noise you used to get from old CRT TVs. It's like having a constant low level headache,
