whining PSU

Just put in new Antec quatro 1000w and it emits a very very high pitched whine, a bit higher pitch and it would probably be outsideof human hearing but unfortunatly it's not and it's really annoying.

when you put your ear up against the unit you can also hear a buzz, but this might be normal and can only be heard with your ear up against it.

Any ideas???

How loud is it, would you walk in the room and notice it straight away?

pretty audible, my wife noticed it. I can hear it over my fans. It's realy high frequency, practically into cat and dog whistle terretery. just tried vacuum nozzle over fan but no joy, but then it shouldn't be dust in the bearings as its brand new.

You might want to email both antec and ocuk regarding the issue, I had a psu whine once it was an old tagen basicly 1 day smoke started coming out of it.....apparently it was a psu coil whine saying the coil in the psu had gone. Lucky for me it was only the psu that was broken everything else in my pc was fine.

really high pitched whine, Imagine the highest pitch noise you can think of, just before human hearing can't register and then you've found the level.

yeah think I will, annoyingly just taken out a bequiet darkpower 650 that had only been in a month cos it kept cutting the power completly, like the pc had been switched off at the wall. any reccomendations for new unit? thinking maybe corsair hx620
