Was just surfing around and came across this:
http://www.whisher.com
It's a piece of software that lets you share your wireless connection with other Whisher users.

Sounds a bit dodgy - what if someone decides to download some 'dodgy' stuff on your connection?
Also the legality is a bit flakey - they mention:
"We believe that sharing your WiFi with other members of the Whisher community is the same as sharing it with your family or a visiting friend. Since at Whisher everyone has a personal profile, which you can use to get to know people visiting your WiFi, sharing becomes a social activity, rather than anonymous access to the Internet by jumping on an open connection"

What do you reckon? Will something like this take off one day?

There's next to no one using it at the moment, but imagine what it would be like if everyone had it......

Sounds very similar to the FON network. Personally I would not touch it with a barge pole as if someone downlos something dodgy eg kiddy pics on your connection then it is you that the police will want to talk to. They would go to your ISP request who was connected on such and sych date and time on the following IP address and as it was downloaded via your connection the ISP would give your details. Then the police would appear on your door accusing you go being the latest Gary Glitter
