Hello,

Odd question! I am looking to purchase a large whisk to aerate a liquid (consistancy similar to water).

There are two options available of the whisk I'm looking to buy:

12 light 'piano' wires
8 heavy wires

Under what circumstances would you need one rather than the other and which would be more suitable for aeration? I'd 'rather' the heavy one as I assume that'll hold its shape better if it gets dropped in the bottom of a box for storage but that's no good if it's not the right tool for the job.

Thanks!

Heavy in general is better, light requires more effort to get the same amount of air into a liquid - the extra weight is preferable of a heavy whisk because it helps propel.

If you have heavy 12 wires with the same weight as 8 then that is better for cream but if the 12 is light and flimsy I'd stick with 8.

35cm heavy weight balloon whisk is my weapon of choice 90% of the time.
