Saw this in Tescos the other day, and had a god read at the packaging. Its milk, for cats.

Cat Milk!

Now, apparently its because cats cant digest "normal" milk properly, fair enough...but my kitties have been drinking "normal milk" for about 18 years and I never noticed any detrimental effect on them. So questions:

1) Why did they bother with this product? Its ludicrously expensive, and cats have been drinking normal milk for years and years, yet not dropping like flies.
2) Does anyone actually intend to buy it?
3) Has anyone here actually tried drinking some when you've been drunk or otherwise mentally incapicatated? :p

Normal milk made our cats poo more :p

I dont intend to, I already have

No, but tell us what happens when you do :D

Answer is if your cat gets the runs when you give it milk, don’t give it milk.

Seriously though from what I remember they love that fat content but it passes straight through them.

We got some Cat Milk the other day, but I also had this argument with my missus, that cats will drink normal milk with no ill effects.

However it is true that a lot of cats are lactose intolerant apparently.

The absence of taurine causes the cat's retina to slowly degenerate, causing eye problems and (eventually) irreversible blindness. This condition is called central retinal degeneration (CRD). Cow's milk is a poor source of taurine and adult cats are generally lactose intolerant.

Does your cat appear happier when drinking Whiskas milk or normal milk?

Also, is it like Whiskas other products, which seem to be laced with some form of cat cocaine, and the cat then refuses to drink anything else?

I wont give her normal milk anymore, so couldnt really say

She doesnt get the cat milk all the time, its only ever a treat :)

Most cats are lactose intolerant, so regular milk can mess with their digestive system. Apparently some cats leave normal milk to go slightly sour, because that breaks down the bits they can't do themselves. The cat milk is regular milk with the lactose removed.

Our cat likes milk, cream, even yoghurt. We give her little bits of it, but not like a whole saucer or anything like that. She always has water down for her though.

Large amounts of tuna is also bad for cats (linky)
Canned Tuna is among the most popular food stuff to feed to companion cats, because cats are very fond of it. It is not uncommon for cats, that regularly receive tuna, to refuse all other foods. Cats displaying this addiction-like behaviour are often refered to by Veterinarians as "tuna junkies".

they do say cats should be given water not milk as they digest it better. One of our kitties got the runs every time he had milk, so we stopped giving it to him. Another one will practically drag a cereal bowl off your knee to get to the milk, so they're all different I guess.

Cat Milk has been around for a long time though - i'm surprised you only just noticed it :D

They must put Crack cocaine in the food as my two fight and get grumpy when they are getting near feeding time and straigt after this happens :)

My cat has been drinking regular milk for the past 20 years and she is perfectly healthy (apart from old age)

My Ex's cats prefer Cat Milk to regular milk though so they can tell the difference

Our cat isn't overly impressed with milk in general to be honest.
Most of the time she just has water.
When she goes outside she has a habbit of drinking from our pond as well.
We do have a few bottles of cats milk which we keep back as a treat for her - when she has it she seems to enjoy it and looks cute with it all around her mouth, but she doesn't immediately empty her bowl drinking it as fast as possible.
