White cars

I think that particular point is made because a white Porsche parked up somewhere that spends 80% of its time bathed on awesome sunshine looks fantastic, whereas a white Ford Focus which spends 80% of its time sitting in the rain on the A38 just outside Bromsgrove doesnt quite have the same effect.

And my point still stands. Why should a place of residence dictate what colour car you have over a personal preference of colour.

My personal preference for my choice of car is white. I don't think, "argh damn, i better go for midnight sky because i live in grey old england", i think "Yeah, white looks nice, the contrast between the black trimming and white paint works really well, i'll have that!".

Surely the same could be said for having an Estoril Blue BMW and being in a sunny country also. In fact, i don't understand this whole locale argument at all.

Colours come in to and go out of fashion.

White mk5 GTI's currently carry a premium.

There's oem povvo spec and then there's premium whites.
IMHO there is a big difference

Some cars look good in white some don't, it's all personal taste anyway.
I don't like cars with stretched tyres and all that other rubbish but I can't say that it has such an impact on my life that it worries me enough to get mad about and use caps lock on the internet

+1

Pearlescent white gives a very premium look

Because some colours look best in sunlight and don't look anywhere as impressive when it isn't sunny. It could therefore be argued that these colours are best avoided if you dont live somewhere sunny.

Thats why I disliked Le Mans Blue after having it for a bit - it looks great in the photos and it looks great in direct sunlight but the rest of the time - ie the majority of the time, its just a dark and dull blue :(

Isn't that a flaw of a metallic painted car?

My flat white looks the same no matter what the weather but as you say though, it doesn't look as impressive if it's not sunny but then again, what car does. :p

To be honest seeing a white car is a nice change, I'm tired of seeing safe colours on the road, quite drab with the amount of silvers and greys around.

I agree with fox on this one. A white car is a fantastic car to have in a hot climate. Ive been a owner of a white car for 4 years (A very rare colour for my model) and it is great in the summer but in the winter you can wash it every day and still end up with mud ripples all over the bonnet, dirt spots all over the rear and wheel spin all down the side just from popping to the shops. I nearly bought white wheels to go with it too (Would have looked fantastic when clean) but I got gun metal instead. The car also needs constant claying because it shows up a lot more. My car is also garaged and I must snow foam the thing 3 times a week. It's a pain in the ass and I will not be doing it again even though it looks better than any other colour out there.

Also your front bumper will look like a peppermint in a few years and you will be under a contant battle against stone chips. darker colours hide this very well.

In the last few years around my neck of the woods the number of white cars has been growing significantly. They are everywhere now. I suspect they went out of fashion when they were seen as the cheap colour option from the 70's. Then Apple came in with their "everything white" look and people jumped on the bandwagon, particularly as white cars were rarer then.

To me it just looks like a fashion thing. Some white cars can look fantastic. But (personal viewpoint) most of them just look "me too". If/when the bubble bursts then people will be left with a car that buyers may avoid due to it being white. White cars were undesirable at one point. Even the police changed their colour scheme from white to silver so that they were more desirable when selling old stock.

I really don't mind white cars. Not all of them look great just because they are white but I wouldn't say that a car looks good despite being white and I certainly don't agree that it matters where you live! Anyway, in a few years people will be bored of white cars (remember yellow cars back in the late 90's and early 00's) and we can all go back to driving silver and black cars then ;)

I agree that it has to be a well specced car to pull it off. If it's white, diesel engine and steelies or small alloys it looks like a cheapo hire car.

Stilll, white is better than dark blue. That's the worst car colour ever. Dull on overcast days. Dull when it's sunny. Awful.

Why white?

Because rally car.

I agree, not a fan of white cars.

Remember a mate had a white Corsa he thought was the nuts. I kept pointing out the white BT van, which happened to be a Corsa :p
