hi,

could anyone help me out here. i am getting white flashing specs on my desktop. is this a graphics card problem or is my monitor on its way out?

Usually the graphics memory on it's way out (or overheating). Could be your monitor if it's an LCD, try another card & see how it goes. Also ensure your power supply is up to the job....

Regards

On an old 6800GS I got sparkly bits on screen when certain colours were displayed. It was the DVI cable that would faulty. Can you try a VGA cable?

tx for the suggestions ive got a 4870 on order ill try that when it arrives. present card is an ati 2900 passively cooled, power supply is a corsair 500 watt jobby so im pretty sure thats ok and my monitor is a dell 30" lcd pannel. (really hope its not the monitor!) .

ill try what you suggested and post back when the new card arrives.

tx again.

how the heck did you passivly cool a 2900? you got pics and stresstests to show how hot it got? would love to see how hot a 2900xt gets running furmark in a passive cooling setup.
