White glow around objects

I have an HD projector and it always seems to have a whitish glow around anything bright - any ideas what could be causing this. Would the screen I have make a difference in this regard as I am using a basis white blind?

my eyesight is good, and my mrs sees the glow as well. Its really strange, not seen it on any pictures on here - I'd take a photo but it just doesnt show very well (any my camera is away at the moment)

Pretty sure screens should be grey/silver and not white - maybe that is the reason.

If I watch TV or look at a VFD display the brighter things appear to glow, but when I put my glasses on it all goes into focus and the glow disappears.

Try turning the sharpness down.

Would advise to run some proper calibration patterns, get a digital video essentials dvd or if you have a THX film like Monsters Inc. that has some patterns on the disc.
