re building a mod for my sister in law and going fully white build- gpu is a MSI RTX4090 Ventus which is mostly black and silver- any ideas of where or how to get the backplate white without buying new gpu which is out of the question- not too worried about the top of the card being black but any ideas gratefully accepted

For some reason i thought you was on about the bracket that holds the GPU to the case when you said the top of the card was ok being black. :p

I would be very careful with whatever you do incase you void the warranty.

Just check if the backplate gets hot or just warm during load before doing any changes, as it may be helping dissipate heat and not just aesthetic.
Vinyl is the easiest to go back to stock, just make sure it won’t peel any warranty/serial sticker when removed.
Painting would be a step too far for me, personally.
As mentioned before, a replacement seems to be a good/best option.

not trying to promote anything just incase any mods might think i am. techsource on youtube has a guide for painting gpus i think jayztwocents has a tutorial too if you want a less destructive way you could also try plasti dip since you can peel it off and not have to worry about messing it up as its non destructive

Not thought about vinyl wrap- might see about that.

If the back plate has a lot of holes I wouldn't do it. You need to use a scalpel, and it will scratch the original finish. It's also a long process and not worth the ball pain it will cause IMO.

Threep- bit draconian
Freddie- she wants to see the glorious interior that has been lovingly done by yours truly- all whited out just the backplate- might message coldzero
