Can it be done? I wasn't sure incase SSD wasn't supported by the controllers on the motherboard or anything like that. The model is a 2010 2.4 core 2 duo with a Hiatchi 250GB drive in it at the moment.

Would it simply be a case of removing the current drive and reinstalling a suitable SSD?(no idea which drive would be suitable...)

Also, is it possible to transfer all the data to the new drive?

Hmmm :/

SSD is possible on this mac. It has a ICH8-M AHCI chipset (you may want to double check that) and people have posted on apple's forum that they done it, question is if its worth it as the reported speeds ain't great.

If you can depending on your os version, do a time machine back up, and then restore that time machine.

I've just ordered a 60gb OCZ drive for my early 2009 Mac Mini - I've just taken it out of semi-retirement as my iMac is dead (:() and the hard drive is a tiny bit crunchy sounding.

Hope it works well, I've never had an SSD in a machine of my own and I think this machine will feel quite perky with that in, it's not too bad right now even really but I'm not sure about the noise it's making and this was £30 so I thought I'd try it!

I know it doesn't have SataIII on this, and it's not supposed to be a super fast drive (OCZ - SSD2-1VTXPL60G Vertex Plus) but should be better than a mechanical drive and quieter.
