Hi!

My girlfriends macbook is suffering. Basically, the backlight has stopped working. Titling the screen back and forth will occasionally fire the backlight up. I have started to open up the unit, but the 3 screws by the L bracket in the battery chamber are proving extremely difficult to remove.

I started to open it up because I thought it may be something as simple as a loose connection, but, after loosing my rag trying to remove the final 3 screws, I started to do some more research. I discovered that an inverter may be at fault?

Should I go ahead and visit the jewelers to borrow their smallest of the small precision screwdrivers, or should I assume that the inverter is the problem? If it was the inverter then I would get one ordered from ebay and tackle the screws when it arrives :p

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Thanks mate,

I appreciate this - I've had a little browse, but it doesn't really help me at this stage.

I am asking, mainly, if it is possible that there is just a loose connection somewhere - i.e. a loose wire, cable or card - you know, something that I could just 'clip back in' or whatever. Without being able to remove the final 3 screws, I don't really know if that could be the case or not.

Or should I just go ahead and order a new inverter?

Anyone?

Okay,

So I'm guessing it's the inverter cable or the inverter. I suppose there isn't a way of really telling - so i guess I'll have to order both.

Looks like a mammoth task to replace them.

Balls.
