White Miso. WHAT THE HELL IS IT?!

I'm cooking tonight and it's yet another recipe that calls for white miso. I've looked in two Chinese supermarkets, Tesco & Morrisons for White Miso but can't find it.

Am I being totally stupid or is it called something else? It's too late for tonight, but would be interesting to find out what it is. The only thing I can find is miso soup.

There's miso mini packets with or without seaweed I used to use, or you can get a block you cut bits off
