Hi guys,

I fitted my new r290 the other night and ever since my logitec z506 speakers, specifically the speaker with the power button and volume control, has been emitting what can only be described as "white noise"

My razer mouse runs past the speaker in question and you can almost hear the movement of the mouse, amplified through the speaker? It's like a pulsing sound.

I checked all my cables and there didn't seem to be any loose connections there so tonight I pulled my sound card, a 5.1 pcie asus dg and reverted to onboad audio and hey presto, problem solved. I suspect my new graphics card might be interfering with my sound card because the pcie slot and card sit directly above it... its weird though, my last graphics card was in the same position and I didn't notice the problem then :(

I've just ordered the pci version of the card and I'm going to see how I get on with that. It's a strange one though, don't you think?

its emi leakage from the gpu/or psu or mb (differing brands/models will lessen or highten it)

and that's what your hearing through your speakers

I used to suffer from it badly on older x58 boards

Will the new pci card be okay do you think? It'll be a least 2 slots away.

it depends how well shielded it is,only way to know is to try it

some have shields on them to help reduce emi noise

You could get some of these (in the correct diameter)
Ferrite Core Noise Suppressor Filter

I use one on my monitor cable and it sorts out the slight ghosting I get from EMI on my desktop,
(whenever I move the PC or work on it the monitor cable touches the ethernet and coax for my TV card causing ghosting from EMI)

they simply clip around the cable, simple and cheap

Out of interest, where would I have placed those? I'm guessing round the speaker cables
