Just went to move the other car ( 318iS coupe ) and it was a git to start , when it fired it ran a bit rough and quite a bit of white smoke came from the exhaust also a few oil spots from the pipe too , took it for a bit of a run a after a mile or so the smoke stopped and all seems fine now

I checked in side the oil filler cap and the oil seems ok

any ideas ?

When I had white smoke coming from my exhaust it was due to a blown head gasket (Rover 200!!). So pray its not that, but if its stopeed I wouldn't worry too much. Have you checked your coolant level?

nope , I'm not big on self maintenance , it is booked in for a oil service on Friday so I would assume they will check it as part of that :)

TBH if it is the head gasket ( something I thought of which is why I checked the oil ) the that isn't that bad , is it ? would have thought a couple of hundred quid would cover it

E36 isnt it? Shouldnt be to bad. The iS has a tendency to be a bit more expensive mind you (from my experience)
