White space - why ?

Site built with Bootstrap (3.3.6)

There is white space at the top of the screen above the Purple bar

I have already spent several hours staring at this in frustration

Please can someone put me out of my misery ?

I loaded the nav.shtml (which is an include) and could not see anything strange in Notepad++

I converted it to UTF-8 without BOM and saved it
