Howdy,

Ok, at the moment this problem isn't there, but it does appear now and then and I wanted to post this to see if anyone has any ideas what it may be.

Sometimes when I use to connect my MacBook Pro to my 30" Dell I would get white speckles/spots like glitter on the display, it was VERY annoying. But then other times it wouldn't occur?

Well when I got my Mac Pro I was worried this might occur on here, as of yet I haven't seen it on OS X, but on Boot Camp Vista I have seen it. If I go to a black screen I would get it sometimes, then sometimes I wouldn't.

There is a dude on YouTube that deislays the issue, I have NEVER got it as serious as he does on this vid, but I'm hoping it won't get like that. Check out this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQOl0FmQG54 and this is the issue I am getting, just at a much more lesser degree than that.

As I write this I am not getting it, and am thinking it could be something to do with the graphics card warming up or something, but I have NEVER EVER experienced this problem on any of my PC's in the exact same displays.

Does anyone have ANY idea whatsoever what it could be? Cos its worrying me that it may get worse? And the fact I have had it on my MBP and Mac Pro and never on a PC must suggest its a Mac hardware issue?

Thanks!

Steve

Just to add, this happened just now. I was in Vista via Boot camp, and the screen flickered VERY quickly (which is fine, it done that on my PC... its a dual link thing I think) but after I got the spots again for about 1 min, they disappeared?

Some weird Mac thing this is?!?!

Possibly dodgy DVI cable or connecter at either end. I've seen corruption due to a busted DVI connection and it was one pixel wide sparkles dotted around the whole screen.

Could be I suppose, but I know when I had it witrh my MBP I was using a different dual link dvi. I have three of them, if it gets worse, then I will try that.

At the moment, it only happens now and then, and its not bad, so I can live with that. If it ever gets like the YouTube vid I showed then I'll try that, cos I wont be able to live with that.

A bit strange that I am using the exact same cable that I used my PC with for months, and never experienced it with that though?
