White Stripes disbanded.

A girl at work keeps telling me they weren't brother & sister but were married at one time!!!
I suppose from where they came from they could have been both.

I thought that for years until my dad told me they were married, to which I replied "isn't that incest?".

I don't know how I ever thought they had the same blood.

edit - I'm also surprised at the hate, despite the drummer being bad (which I don't really notice) the song's and lyrics are fantastic. It's one of the few bands I can listen to over and over again and never get tired of.

Seven Nation Army and Blue Orchid were alreet but as has been said she was a ****ing awful drummer.

The Raconteurs are awesome.

Boo ******* hoo?

One band who surfed a wave of hype and never produced the songs to justify it (barring Seven Nation Army). Hopefully Jack will get himself in a real band and wise up a tad.

He's already in two other bands. :p Both are pretty damn good, The Dead Weather especially (saw them at the Roundhouse, 'twas a good night).

As for The White Stripes, I'm a bit dismayed that I'll never be able to see their manic mix of delta blues and punk, but I don't think the band could've gone further creatively (Jack forming other more versatile projects is an example of this) and Meg probably isn't up for world tours after her panic attack. Though I can imagine a reunion somewhere in the future...

Anyway, have some awesome live vids:

I'll go against the grain and say I liked them, earlier material more than the recent though.

Shame, one of those bands on my hit list to see live :(

:( Really hope he gets involved in something more than the Dead Weather. It had promise, but clearly isn't going any further than the two albums, the second was dire frankly, far too much style, not enough substance.

I'd be quite happy if the Raconteurs announced a new album, some of Jack's best work was with them.

Still I will miss the White Stripes, I did think they might make one more album. Love them or hate them, they have made some iconic singles together and got Jack White into the public consciousness. Not to mention some of the songs you perhaps haven't heard if you don't listen to their albums in their entirety...

Anywho, as a send off, here's Ball & Biscuit for your delectation.

Are you serious?

ever heard of The dead weather or the raconteurs? both fantastic bands.

White stripes are fantastic.

one of my favorite stripes songs.

I still love Hotel Yorba. Such redneck energy! Seven Nation ARmy was one of the first songs I learned to play all the way through on my guitar.

Awh :( *
Sort of liked them. Am I alone?

*Mostly disappointed that you beat me to a thread about it.

Can't believe the negative responses on this thread towards them.

Jack White has to go down as one of the most inspirational blues guitarists of the previous decade. I know many of you out there will shoot me down and list this that and the other or some band nobody has ever heard of in an attempt to shoot me down, but right from their early albums, through elephant and more recently there have been some fantastic songs.

He's the person who inspires me the most when it comes to blues music and always makes me want to pick up my guitar.

Sad they are splitting up as I never got to see them, but saying that, they can be a bit rough live as said in post number 1.

Second to the Death Letter video above, this is my favourite video:
