Just had one of these turn up in a box along with my Haribo.

Question is, which is the best waterblock to get for this?

Have one fitted onto my dead 7970 but from looking at the holes in there last night they do not seem to line up (is a XSPC 7970 Rev 1 one, the one before this)

Am tempted to get the same XSPC on e in that link, but does anyone know for deffo that it will fit my card?

Cheers

Same PCB as the 7970 matey, so your old block will fit.

Looks slightly different to my initial glance.

May order new block and see. If it works, happy days will have 2 x WC 7970's then...mmmm a bit of X-Fire coming up I thinks. May have to get a new PSU though. Not sure my current 750W is up to it and also have managed to misplace the spare modular cables so not got enough power lines to link in.

Back to the store I go .... hehe

Just checked CC. Two variants of that card, just check your manufacturers code.
The one in stock from OCUK are defo ref PCB (053R) however you might have the (057R) which isn't and will not fit.

Well, have ordered the one that I linked before so as mentioned, will throw the old block on the other 7970 and crossfire them...... just need to work out how to bridge the two now

Update:- The XSPC card does not fit the MSI card. IS the same as the existing 7970 block, with one hole (top left as you look at copper side of block) and the memory cover being out of alignment.

Just intouch with CS to try and return my XSPC block and am now looking to find a block that will fit it.....wich me luck. Am not liking the sound of fans at present

Not with box atm as in work, but that is what it said on the label there.

Has been thoroughly eyeballed and there is a deffo mis-alignment between the hole I mentioned on the card and the PEC.

Tis rather frustrating indeed

I'm getting the feeling that either OcUK have the wrong code listed or you've been sent the 057R version instead of the 053R.

You sure you ordered the one you linked and not the other MSI 280x that's listed on the site?
Do you recall the stock clocks? (assuming you tested it on air first)

This is directly linked from my orders history.

The manufacturer code on that is different to the one I have too.

Will do some more looking this evening when I get home, but typed the code directly in from the label on the box when I received the card and was registering it. Product serial that I registered with MSI starts 602-V277

Ok, let us know when you get in tonight :)

In the meantime, maybe drop a note to CS and ask them to check the box codes.
If it turns out they've made a mistake, they need to change it asap before others buy this card with the intention of sticking a block on there.

Here are some pics of the card.

First one shows 280X (right) mirrored against a 7970

Second one shows product label on the card

Third one shows a 7970 waterblock sat on card, showing obvious mis-alignment with 280X PCB holes

Last pic shows labels that are on the box

That 280x is massive and clearly not a reference pcb or the card that's advertised on the site.

Get on to OcUK and ask them what's going on with their listing info and get it sent back. Also ask for them to cover return postage as the item is not as advertised :)

EDIT: Actually, it is the one that's advertised (GX-225-MS), but either the mfr code is wrong or cooling configurator is wrong.

Avenged,

The ones listed in OcUK are all for ref design cards and as can be seen in the pics, the MSI card I have is far from ref design

Ah roger that.

Did ask about returning it when I asked about the waterblock return, but heard nothing back.

Suppose I may have to open a new thread with CS and go about getting that returned then
