Following on from Gilly's thread regarding the most overrated/fallen from grace players, I thought it might be interesting to get some views on which players don't get the credit they deserve. This could be either in the form of players you think are good who get slagged off all the time in the media (dont have to be great players, but just not as poor as is made out), or perhaps players who don't get a chance to play much and show what they can do. May as well stick to premiership players to keep things from getting too obscure, I'll set the ball rolling in no particular order...

Nikolas Dabizas
Vladimir Smicer
Steven Wright (liverpool never should have let him go)
Ray Parlour
Shaka Hislop (ok so he wont be premiership for 6months ;) )
Bruno Cheyrou
Gareth Barry
John Terry
Oleg Luhzny
Gustavo Poyet
Keith Gillespie
Michael Duberry
Mark Pembridge
Mark Draper
Michael Svensson
Winston Bogarde
Olle Gunnar Solskjaer

Of course those are mostly players from "big" clubs, I don't watch enough football to comment on some probably very good performers in weaker premiership teams like charlton.

heh yeh i was a bit sceptical about adding solskjaer at the end - but i really think he is super and not just a "good" striker who can be replaced by the likes of forlan, or veron in a 4-5-1 system. I would never leave him out the team. He is a better player than any of Cole, Yorke and Sheringham were IMO, just sat on the bench every week for 70mins, comes on and scores vital goals and then "thanks a lot olle, now get back to polishing the boots lad".

Smicer is one of the few liverpool players who will actually break from midfield to support the attack, and is not afraid to run at defenders. Maybe he will make the odd misplaced pass but for me at least he is trying to do something creative most of the time rather than the usual liverpool tactic of "give it short to stevie and let him hoof it up to owen"

yeah i forgot rebrov (like mr hoddle obviously has), i remember back in ~1997 when i saw kiev playing, one of the most devastating counterattacking teams I can think of. Kinda like the modern day arsenal, with a style of play capable of breaking so fast that playing away from home didnt matter much - as the 0:4 scoreline at the Nou Camp vs Barca showed.

I nearly put seaman down myself, but I guess for each person laughing at his recent gaffes there is another supporting him - most significantly, his england teammates and players from other teams.

add redknapp to that too :)
and paul jones i picked out as a future star playing in FA cup years and years ago for stockport county, unbelievable shot stopper over the past 6 years (a lot like kevin pressman was) but unfortunately he seems incapable of saving anything shot from more than 25 yards in 2002 :)

well i'll tell you something, he must be underrated by hoddle if he could only get on the bench for the game against saints at the weekend. saints are great at home (i've been to st mary's twice this season as its the nearest league club) but even so spurs were P O O R.
