Need to look at new breakdown cover for 1 car

Who are good & recommended with you members?

Need home start as well as when away from home

Ideally - cover if I am on my way somewhere for holiday within the UK.

Live in Midlands and would hate the thought of going far north or south and then breaking down 300+ miles away from home

thanks chaps :)

I'm with Start Rescue. Never actually had to use them yet but they get good reviews. My days of going RAC/AA are long gone.

I've got Autoaid. It's personal, so only covers me, but it'll cover me on or in any vehicle. Think it was £89 a year. I've bot had the misfortune to need it yet.

Start Rescue on my car, Green Flag on my wife's car.

AA are ridiculous money, RAC lose your car.

Only other things to consider are whether you get any breakdown cover via your bank account or by getting your car serviced at a main dealer etc (although obviously balance the increased cost of the service), or breakdown cover via your manufacturer warranty e.g. BMW Approved warranty, and to use Quidco/Topcashback for a potential cashback down the line.

yep start rescue no probs used once away from home arrived in about 30 mins and did a hose clip repair on roadside. did have option to be recovered but decided to continue to sons house.

Autoaid, they've always been great and also cover my wife's car for an extra £10. It's just under £70 for the year and you can get decent cashback from topcashback.

Autoaid was the last one I had when I had to pay. Was covered by AA whilst car was under warranty, should really look at getting some more cover but I'm not doing the mileage to be stuck too far from home if I did break down.

RAC - me, my wife, covering 3 cars including home start and onward travel - £102

Good Luck!!!! :D

Good Luck!!!! :D

Yeh we've all seen the thread of that one incident, rather take my chances with that than the pages of bad reviews about autoaid and start rescue

I think they're all bad in general. RAC and AA seem to have got significantly worse over the years when you read about the number of people who end up being stuck at the side of the road for many-many hours. If anything it sounds like their membership base has grown but they've drastically shrunk the number of patrols they operate, which inevitably means you'll end up with a half a day wait if a dozen other people in your locale also experience breakdowns.

Autoaid here too. Had an issue where i couldn't charge at any rapid chargers but could charge on 7kw ac. Auto maid got me hone no problem and no faffing with claiming anything back.

I'm with Green Flag, only had to use them a couple of times in around 25 years, annoyingly both were for battery issues, both times they had someone to me inside about an hour. It probably helped both times I was in a town.

Autoaid. Been with them for many years. Called them out once, they had someone to in within an hour.

I don't bother, just pay for it at the time if I need it. Saved so much money over the years. Usually just phone either AA or RAC I might try that Start Rescue next time.

I have AA through my Nationwide account. The one time I’ve had to use them I had to wait 3.5 hours for recovery due to a flat tyre, I was not impressed! I guess because I was in a safe place and wasn’t vulnerable I was last on the list.
