Very tempted into getting myself a netbook, there is a decent one up for £150 elsewhere but am worried that I might be wasting money as I already own a laptop? My laptop isn't that huge nor is it ultra lightweight..

Just wondering if anyone here has both, what do you use it for and do you find it useful?

Yes I have a laptop (its big and heavy) and mini 9, but i found the mini 9 to be too small so bought a 13" aswell, i bought the mini 9 under the assumption that id browse the net and stuff but in the end it was just a bit small and clumsy for extended use, the m1330 which im on at the moment is much better, and it doesnt weigh that much either.

I have the original Eee 701 4Gig and a laptop - the netbook has for the most part replaced my laptop as its so much smaller and takes up so much less space - but still has decent functionality... however...

I bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia phone and thats now replacing the netbook for most short term travelling as its got decent internet capabilities, a good screen, decent music playback, etc. pretty much everything I need for the odd day or two on teh road and its very small and light and lasts a lot longer than a laptop battery life wise - not to mention always on, etc.

I have a netbook and a 15" laptop.

I love the netbook for throwing in my bag when on trips or for my lunch hour at work.
I also use it for all my downloading as it is so quiet and low powered.

The 15" still get plenty of use when I am at home

I take my netbook (Mini 9) to work/uni in my bag as its tiny tho wish I bought the slightly bigger model :)

Laptop lives in our living room really to heavy to carry

I have an Acer Aspire 5630 which is now 2.5 years old and going strong, used for 5hrs per day running Windows Server 2008 with workstation mods.
I also have the basic Acer One A110 with 8gig SSD running a Super OS (a version of Ubuntu), the Netbook is great for traveling, taking to Open University tutorials, I can watch online tv, iplayer, radio streaming in bed. I am very pleased I bought the Acer One, cheap, powerful and versatile.

I did at one point, I've got an XPS M1330 and bought an Acer Aspire One for £99 when a certain supermarket was selling them cheap. I sold the Acer (after it was replaced under warranty with a slightly better model) for profit though because I was becoming increasingly frustrated with the rubbish performance of it even in Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Presumably that was largely down to the awful SSDs Acer use in them, but it still worries me that if I paid £300 for a netbook today, I might not be happy with it.

I don't use my notebook much now either really so the temptation is to either sell it, wait a while and get a decent netbook in a few months, or just not to bother at all and put the money towards something else. It just seems stupid to sell my very quick notebook for not much more than a run-of-the-mill netbook will cost.

I got myself a 14" ASUS N81Vp notebook powerhouse this month (2.66Ghz T9550 + 4650M 1Gb). So it's truly portable but with the power of a "real" notebook. Heck it even plays Crysis at good FPS (on medium settings at least)!! Shame about the absolutely atrocious keyboard... :D

I don't like the look of these netbooks - to many compromises to keep cost down. Certainly the Atom doesn't impress me as a good CPU. Others will disagree of course just IMHO.

Having owned two Acer one's SSD and Hard Drive I just want to point out the Acer One with Hard Drive and Windows XP is vastly superior.

White is also the best colour ;)

I am so close to blowing £150 on one, I have been itching all week going "should I....maybe not..." lol...I've heard of people installing OSX on their netbooks, anyone got first hand experience? I'm guessing it runs quite slow? I think i'd probably just stick linux on it and maybe get it to dual boot with a light version of XP or something...
