Who has a WHOOP band and how are you getting on with it?

I'm still trying to send my 4.0 back from the trial!

They never sent the return email, and when I chased them up (forgot for a while) they sent an email with a link for something I have to register with, which I can't. So I'm giving up at the moment, but hopefully not going to be charged for anything.

First test (TTT) 5.0 wrist - without comparable chest strap - head unit powered off so didn't save
Second test (Group ride/sweeping) 5.0 wrist - avg 147bpm peak 223bpm (!) - chest strap (TCIKRv2) avg 152bpm peak 183bpm - peak with Whoop must be an anomaly but had 2 of them so not easy to strip out of middle of rides
Testing bicep next

Without those couple of anomalies, fairly happy, the wrist accuracy seems loads better than the 4.0 - can't quite explain them, as one was just after an effort, the other on cooldown. Didn't see any in my first test.

seen they're now doing bands for the 5.0, and fully customisable, what lunatic is paying 75quid for a strap?

Must be some people with money around. I saw someone selling a 4.0 with 11 straps for £50 and most of them looked barely used. WTF, I only bought 3 and only 1 of those was new from Whoop!

Did a couple of comparisons of my 5.0 on wrist + forearm doing Zwift TTT's last night. Am impressed with it's accuracy vs my Tickr v2 chest strap. Massive difference to the 4.0 even wrist mounted (I think it's good enough to ignore switching locations to increase accuracy - which did work with the 4.0).

Wahoo Tickr V2 on chest strap (consider this the accurate):

Whoop 5.0 mounted tight on upper forearm (paired to Zwift via Companion Bridge):

Next ride couldn't get the Whoop to show on Bridge (happens sometimes when going back to pairing screen), but Tickr did and stayed connected (unusual for it):

Whoop5.0 back to usual wrist position, activity duration autodetected by app (50s longer than actual ride):

So with the 5.0 my conclusions so far... It's a lot more accurate than the 4.0 on the wrist, close enough for me not to consider moving it whereas the 4.0 benefitted massively from being tighter and on the forearm. I considered getting a bicep band for my 4.0 and probably would have if I continued with it or if the 5.0 was showing just as much a variation as it. I don't think I need to now, so pretty pleased!

How are people getting on with the bicep bands?
I have my W4 on a strap with my Apple watch, so when I remove it I get moaned at for it being off body...

Panic over - Thought I'd lost my 740 day streak.... Thought I'd missed the battery warning at 20% and nothing showing for last 2 days...

Turns out just lost the sync with phone - phew - panic over.

Had a Whoop 4 for 3 years now. Considering getting the MG.

I find the best insights come from being disciplined with the daily journal, which I have let slip recently.

14 day battery life will be a godsend too.

I'm enjoying the battery life of the 5.0 compared to the 4 that's for sure... But dare I say it - it's almost too good?! Old habits of 'knowing' roughly when I'll be charging every 4-5 days so semi check it around that point of the week... Now I'm into 2+ weeks between charges in my old brain that's impossible to remember/plan around. At least when it gets to 20-25% and maybe sends me a notification (can't remember seeing one yet?) I'll have a couple of days to re-remember and get the puck charged

Well I've just paid for an annual sub because I forgot to cancel the trial after I got given one from someone at work when they upgraded to the 5..

Feels a bit cheap given I've got a 4 that's not even new lol

Thanks, I'm good thanks for the offer tho, my main issue with the whole Whoop thing is it sometimes doesnt track sleep properly, and that little charger thing is crap, not a huge fan of how it also triggers Apple Pay on my phone, and how it can go into my bag fully charged and then comes out flat...

I'm not sure if this whole sentence is about the charger and I'm not sure why it would be anywhere near anything to trigger Apple Pay (or what triggering it means) but it definitely shouldn't go into your bag full and come out flat... maybe you have a faulty one?

Yeah, that whole sentence is about the charger.
If you have an iPhone, hover it over the W4 charger, see what it does.
And I've spoken to the other 2 people in office with Whoops, and their little puck thing dies all by itself as well.

I have an Android and can confirm W5 charger (I don't have my W4 charger anymore) does nothing at all to it...

I'd be interested to know what anyone else says about this, as it certainly sounds faulty behaviour to me. I have always (W4 and W5) charged the charger after charging the Whoop, then put it back in a drawer until I need it again and it's never been flat when I put it back onto the Whoop. Surely you would agree it sounds faulty if something charged to full goes flat by itself, doing nothing, in a matter of days?

**EDIT** There are certainly a couple of Reddit threads where people have the same experience as you, although one is very old and the newer one comments he had never updated his firmware. Is yours up to date? Could it be an 'old' issue?

**EDIT2** I see it says -
4.0 Battery Pack (Compatible with WHOOP 4.0)

  • Low Power Mode:
    • WHOOP battery packs conserve energy by automatically turning off when not in motion.
      • 4.0 Battery Pack: A fully charged battery pack can store power for up to 1 week.
I guess if you have it in a bag all the time, getting moved about, it doesn't go into low power mode? As I was charging every 4 or 5 days and leaving it in a drawer in between, that explains why I've never had problems.

I didn't realise that about movement with the chargers, didn't even consider they're 'smart' away from the strap, but guess it's just a movement trigger. Do note my Whoop5.0 strap shows a light a lot more than the 4.0 when doing stuff from getting knocked/triggered to report it's battery life (from a tap/shake). Never really used that feature, nor have much use for it, so quite 'unusual' for me to see a light on it.

Yeah the W4 or W5 pucks don't trigger anything on my androids - S10, S23 & the other halfs S24. So would suggest it's Apple being silly! ;)

I've not noticed the puck not holding charge with my W5 as don't need to charge frequently enough to carry it with me - but the W4 puck holding a full charge for 7d would say wasn't accurate. Hell, even DCR saying he could charge his W4.0 twice from the puck having a single charge I never found accurate so just treated mine 1:1. I actually ordered the 'wired' charger for my W5 as a cheaper option for me to have a charger at home & one at work, it's great actually has quite a long cable on it and although I've not fully charged many times from both, it seems quicker than the puck. I'd got quite used to plugging my W4 puck into a battery pack to be sure I fully charged it while I was charging the W4.0 anyway.
