Anyone else pre ordered the OCUK 290x for £429?

I did around 10 days ago and allready have an EK block for it.

anyone fancy a guess at what brand it will be?

I didn't but am almost 100% sure that AMD's card manufacturer of choice this time round was sapphire, for all R9 and R7 series cards.

Expect a sapphire cooler. ;)

Aren't all the 290x reference cards completely identical except for the cooler branding (and possibly different memory chips) anyway?

I would have thought that it would be a lesser known brand like Club3D, Powercolor, VTX3D, or similar?

OcUK will no doubt honour the warranty directly regardless, which is good as none of the manufacturers above have anything close to a decent RMA process. :p

I got the impression that the initial cards that were released were produced by Sapphire, with others to follow by the end of the month/the beginning of November.

I mean for all of the manufacturers - I'm not sure if Asus, Gigabyte and MSI are making their own to the same design, or if they're all being made on behalf of AMD by Sapphire, or whoever, and then branded by the partners.

Pretty much the same. I think the biggest difference is not in the product but rather the warranty.

eg. Gigabyte has a UK warranty which is incredibly fast. HIS and Sapphire cards come with just 2 years warranty where as others have 3. MSIs policy tends to be more lax than other card manufacturers when it comes to RMAing WC'd cards.

Given the warranty of OCuk cards, my money will be on sapphire as the suppliers.

They usually manufacture their own, I remember some manufacturers were using 7970 PCB's in the manufacturing process of 7950's instead of the standard PCB's. :D

I ordered today my 290X from saphire and will be delivered tomorrow before 10am :)!

but i think they all are the game all that matters with stock cooler is Warranty!
