who hasnt playeda valve game?

no im not, just wondering wha other FPS players also havent played it.

well i missed between 2000 and 2007 PC gaming, due to a PS2.

now i got into being an enthusiast, and PC gaming is what i have had.

Red alert2 yuris revenge(2000(1)) was the last game i played before cod2 (2007)

so i missed out on farcry, doom 3, ETC.

so was just wondering if anyone else also had not.

There's no excuse for not having played a valve game.

CS is the most popular online game there's ever been, if it's too old for you then CS:S is still modern enough to not smash your face in with square fists.

Then there's Half Life which is arguably the best single player fps ever made, which you can pick up with all the expansions + CS for Under £20.

That's not even mentioning the more recently released Orange Box, which includes the must have Portal.

You really need to play these games, otherwise you're really missing out.

after my exams, i have a LONG list of game to finish before uni :p

aslong as they dont get in my way of going out.

thats why i guess i play MP over SP. you can leave after a map, where as SP im compelled to play the whole level each time

Just bought myself the Half Life anthology for £9.20, exams are over so I have time to play them.
Completed HL2 but still have Ep1 and Ep2 to do, but going to play the HL series first :D

Actually, CSS is pretty lame if you're used to other shooters.

I was used to battlefield and mohaa, and CSS just felt rubbish to me when I tried it. Half Life - Half life 2-ep2 is awesome, but doesn't compare to other sp FPS imo, I enjoyed COD + COD:UO far more... Eg. I got bored of ep2 at the semi last mission, where you drove around in the car trying to kill the incoming walkers before they get to base...

I agree with your last point though, portal is amazing, whatever some Valve bashers like I-bot might say.

any pc gamer should have played a Valve game, they're basically the leading PC dev at the moment in several areas.

Like?

Perhaps puzzle games: yes.

Shooters: nah... HL-HL2: awesome TF2: Great, HL2ep1:great, CS1.6: Very good, Hl2ep2: Okay, CSS: Okay, but doesn't compare to games from EA ( Mohaa, BF series) , Activision ( Cod series) and Ubisoft (Far cry in perticular), and more...

Do they make any other genres ?

I didn't mean genres. I think they're one of the few devs who prioritise PC development over console (at least currently) They're games are consistently high quality (I've never had a Valve game crash on me) They balance the market nicely with two very different multiplayer shooters, a couple of excellent single player games and a bit of originality thrown in as well. And while not related to their games, Steam has been a revolution for many reasons.

If you haven't played HL1/2 then you are missing out on one of the best single player games ever made.

The rest aren't so great. Yes I am anti-valve, I did love Portal however, thats brilliant :D

at ~£25, there's simply no reason not to get the Orange Box.

Whilst I personally think CS:S is dire, £25 for HL2, Ep1, Ep2, TF2 and Portal is just illegally cheap. Five of the best PC games right there imo, and for a pittance :)

Get the orange box.

Play Hl2 and the follow-on episodes then play Portal.

Done.

Skip playing HL1, the intro is an exercise in bordom and the last levels were made on the cheap. The last boss is a joke too. Oh, and dont forget one of the worst endings in gaming history.
Cant see why people still name HL1 as being the best 'EVAR'.
