I was wondering if it was possible to cut this section out without the dvd bay to drop or is it supported from the top of the case?

If you wanted to do this job how would you go preparing and cutting it out and what tools would you use?

im using an SSD which is tiny and so ive already taken out all the white HDD holders you see in your pic to get better air flow from the front 2 noctuas ive installed.. my CPU MB and cf 5870's all dropped by ~2c idle temps just from removing the white holders! im now thinking along the same lines as yourself but i want to remove all of the HDD bays for maximum airflow, for this i will be using my m8s dremal and simply grind off the rivet heads, im pretty sure that the DVD bay is fixed from above so it wouldnt drop but im prepared to do any bracing in order for the case to remain solid

I'd appreciate it if you could post some pictures if you ever decide to do the mod

I'm also doing it for better airflow and so it can fit longer gpu's :)

il deffo be doing it at some point soon but for the moment m8 get them un-used white clips out and youl see a temp drop straight away especially if you have 2 front intake fans

Case already fits the largest GPUs.

thats the exact size it fits cards according to google: 11.4173228 inches

5970 is 12.25 inches

a lot of folk complaining about it on google on guy here also considering the dremel mod or hdd mod here:

Hasnt been fixed in the R3 revised model either which is quite bad...

Id still consider this as a decent server case, but heard the hdds are loose/wobbly and can vibrant if anyone cares to comment on this issue ?
