Well may as well get a thread up. Im guessing it will just be me and Princey around OcUK with the VXR badge's?

Anyway...

I got her on Thursday after a while of looking for a new car. I was initially out for a Focus ST but after getting messed about by 4 different ST owners, i decided to open back up to VXR's and i am so happy i did!

late 56 plate
She has 43k on the clock
Full service history
Completely standard

She drives beautifully and is brilliant around town. You certainly wouldn't think she has 240BHP dying to burst out at any given moment. The car is returning about 32MPG with mixed driving, which is quite a bit better than my Fiesta ST (though i have come to terms that maybe the engine was a bit thirstier than usual on my old ST).

The torque steer.. No its not as bad as they make out it is, unless they are little limp-wristed weakenlings...

It is there though and can catch you out if you are not paying attention, not enough to send you flying off the road though. I should hope if you are booting it, that you have a firm grip on the steering wheel anyway.

Took a quick pic earlier:

Also the new CS3 tyres have now arrived:

Previous owner is still looking for the locking wheel nut key, should be getting back to me anytime soon. Rang Vauxhall and they want £30.88+VAT for the Locking wheel nut key.

So far the car has cost me:

£355+ £30 fitting for the tyres.
Pagid disks and pads all around for an amazing £133 from ECP
Cambelt/water pump and tensioners kit for £150
Looks like i will be paying £34 for the locking wheel nut key

Hopefully the Pagid disks and pads should be fine. They was very good on my little Fiesta ST and they are used on many other big cars from the factory. So i should be ok with them.

Future plans are:
Get a stage 1 remap done on it that will see it to 260 BHP and a smoother acceleration whilst in sports mode.

New tailgate as i have a tiny undo-able dent in it that will get on my nerves the more i look at it.

Maybe a deeper raspier poppy Exhaust as that is the only thing i am missing from my Fiesta ST, the sound of the burble and pop when down shifting/engine braking. (chav)

O and to sort out the silly wing mirror covers :) and the tax disk position for RJ :p

Considering the amount of the things you see on the roads these days, there are very few VXR owners here. A few folk here had VXR's, Vectra's notably.

When you say 'late 56 plate' is that late 2006 or a 2007 car?

How much did it cost you?

I actually think they don't look too bad, the silver bar on the back with Astra on it is terrible in every way and the dash is gash but apart from that it's not a bad looking car all things considered.

I've never really understood all the negativity towards the Astra VXR, I enjoyed driving it on the VXR trackday.

I really like the photo of the roof with the rain drops on it, and Arden Blue is a really nice colour. Long aerial is long though...

If this thread goes the way of the BMW M-Power one you'll have photos of dad's vectra soon enough. :P

Hmmm i am just copying what the owner put in his advert. Shouldn't do that really.

It is a 2006 plate, was up for £7500 and i got him down to £6700 inc 6months tax. Good deal compared to rest of the market.

Yeah so actually early 56 plate :p

Just hope you don't need to sell it any time soon. Princey couldn't give his away and got joker offers of £thousands less than what he actually wanted, let alone asking price.

Well i was getting offers for £1500 for my Fiesta ST.

I am kind of preparing my self to lose quite a bit of money on it over the next year with the fuel prices rising. I think i will keep it for at least a year, unless a big change of circumstance happens, good or bad.

I'm notable now am I ?

I'm flattered. I'm guessing you've seen the numerous threads knocking around various forums then ? Lol
