Just want to discuss the nitty gritty :) I have been involved with in company house dc's with a disaster recovery site in a previous job. The current company I work for we have number of racks at two co-lo's one being in THN. But the mother is to come. We bought a run down ex ambulance centre, 2 floors, good few rooms for offices, meeting rooms, power rooms, 2 x mid size rack suites and a huge data hall :)

They have Been working on the project for a while but were in the move in stage on 14th oct. We already have some racks live for a customer of ours who is renting out 3 racks with plenty more to come when we move everything around and get some new business

Was down there 3 weeks ago putting together a rack for our support room.

Can't wait to get stuck in :)

Ambulances were not there when we bought the building as it has been empty for a a good 7 months before we started ripping it apart and doing it up, I have a video of a tour half way through but not sure if I can post it.

Next time I am down there I will take some pics :), should be within the next few days.

Linky

Thats who I work for

I started here 3 years ago now nearly as a 2nd line Network/VoIP Support engineer, and before that I was working for another company in 1st/2nd Line Desktop Support

I would say if you have qualifications then yeh it certainly helps I guess however we have had people who have walked in to the job with a few qualifications, and they have been shocking, so I think working experience is just as important.

It's worth sending your CV in yeah I think at some point down the line they maybe recruiting someone to help out on support, how much/what sort of experience do you have?

I have worked in a few different data centres for public and private companies, not work in another data centre for another company :D

Do you hire newly graduated ppl willing to work for next to nothing for the experience :D

I applied for a Data Center job with the perfect quals and experience but did not get a look in. Think they wanted more of a simpleton monitoring lacky they could pay much less :D

I manage the UK and Ireland network for a IP carrier and we have kit in about 75% of the DC's in the country.
We recently opened our own centre in London so you could say half my working life is spent in data centres.
