Hi all,

I'm still looking to buy a new monitor. I'm looking to buy an IPS G-Sync monitor. I was going to pick Asus. But I'm a little put off by the amount of people that end up with a faulty monitor and have to send it back. One person even commented that asus makes good products but arent that good at quality control.

I don't fancy keep having to send items back because they are faulty. So my question... do these IPS monitors have a higher fault level than other technology or is it certain companies seem to suffer higher faults?

Any info and experiences would be interesting to know.

Thanks.

On the whole, I'd put my money into Dell, assuming they have a product to fit your needs :)

Very good dead-pixel warranty, and pretty tight QC, have 7-8 24" units around the office and all are perfect after many years of service. Though there's always the risk of some backlight bleed, which is not specifically listed as a returnable fault - but I suspect the risk is less than with other brands.

As for IPS fault rate, this thread may be relevant:

Basically it's a lottery. There's a known, common annoyance that manufacturers are insisting is "normal" for the technology and the enthusiasts are saying "well it's unacceptable" and sending affected units back anyway. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Asus seem to have more losing tickets than most, although if you get a good one, it's a good good one...

Agree. Dell UltraSharp monitors are the best I've used. I'm even considering getting a 4k resolution Dell monitor to upgrade my current 1440p monitor. The only thing I miss about Dell monitors is that lack of G-Sync but you can't win them all I suppose.
