I never really though about the games actually being the limiting factor when it comes to buying gaming headphones and sound quality.

The source always matters, whether it's music or gaming. Low quality material won't magically sound better in £1000 headphones.

Gaming Headsets were always a kind of scam, even if the sound quality from games was good enough. It was/is always better to get a good pair of stereo headphones over a gaming headset. However, I can understand why people buy them.

That's why I look down on Sony's Pulse headset and the likes. Flipping hell I bought one on release and laughed so hard at the quality of sound let alone the creaky build. Purchased an Arctis 5P+ or whatever the PS5 version is called and heard a huge improvement, not to mention comfort difference.

Now I just run a K11 R2R headphone amp to the console and use my HD600 or FT1's wired, which is far superior to either.

I remember back in the day when I gamed on the PC (prior to Win11 bloat) I ran the HD600 with an Antlion modmic thingy. It was a brilliant setup before USB Mic's became a thing.
