So for the first half of the year the games market (for me) went dead. WOW got boring (again) SWTOR was exciting till you finished levelling, Skyrim held attention for a few days (really could not get to grips with the UI.

So I would wait for panders, that's what I would do, right? Wrong.

The last month or so has seen me in ame heaven with some great releases. I'm now like a dog with 2 dangly bits, or 4 actually. I don't know what to play, never had this feeling before.

GW2, loving it, slowly putting time into it, can come back whenever I want, no big rush, no monthly fees.

Planetside 2, I'm old enough to remember the first one. Really enjoying BETA will love it when it goes live, again, no rush to do anything, it's free!!

Torchlight 2, for when you just need to blow stuff up, I se myself 60 min to play, 2 hours later.......... No monthly fee... See the trend

And finally Borderlands 2. It's like bing in a movie, it's like bing in a Gorrilaz video, it makes me laugh, not s******, laugh. Excellent game. No fee :)

Panders came out today and I have played WOW since Beta. Not even thought of buying it.

Im not saying i wont go have a look at panders one day, and i do relalise its contribution to the games we are enjoying today, but now, for the first time ever for me, i really dont need WOW.

I really hope this trend continues.

I tired WOW then EVE. Sure EVE is expensive but you never get bored, and if your bored its your fault for thinking of it like a game :)

I loved EVE, problem is i got into the habit of buying and selling accounts as I wanted to have the best, I never really wanted to start from the start.

I really wish I had kept a fully trained Toon back for those moments that I fancy some space combat.

i see where you are coming from, its a good time to be a pc gamer, got loads of quality games in steam that i am working my way through, most were cheap as chips too. Lots of good games coming out in the future too.

now gimme a planetside 2 beta key old chap

Yeah, that was the point I was trying to make. I gave my PS2 key to my son :)

I never intended it to be a WOW argument. It was just my personal opinion of the state of my world. I thought I'd share.

WOW is a great game, its my go to game, its always there. My point is, I dont feel i need to right now because of some other excellent games. That, for me has not happened in a long time.

I'm the exact opposite.

There are no games at the moment which keep my interest. F1 2012 is dull, Borderlands 1 annoyed me so I haven't bothered with 2, haven't touched CS:GO and I completed Sleeping Dogs and haven't played since. None of the games mentioned in the OP take my fancy. I even re-installed Black and White 2 a couple of weeks ago but that got boring after a couple of hours.

So I got a free 10 day re-sub of WoW and bought MoP (haven't played WoW since last December) and I'll see what it's like before deciding to re-sub for a month. Have the new slim PS3 and Fifa 13 coming on Friday anyway so it's not likely.

And I know a few other people in your situation right now as well. That's where I was for the first half of the year. I guess its very cyclical.

came home from work and my housemate has installed wow on my PC...

i havent played it since killing herioc LK 25man ages ago... i promised myself id quit for ever but its sooooooo tempted to reactivate my account and play again lol..

do i dont i?

I think the answer to that is if its going to entertain you then yes deffo do it. Regardless of what I or other people think at this time, you need to what's gonna keep you happy :)

For the last 2 expansions I have just PVP'd , no raiding at all. I have not found raiding enjoyable for a long time.

I played WoW (end-game raiding) from early vanilla until late TBC, went onto single player RPGs after that, and played many of the other games I'd missed while playing WoW. I now play Eve Online.

I just didn't like the feel of TBC at all. Horde and Alliance sharing 1 city, no 40-man content, no world PvP because of arenas and battlegrounds, only being able to use PvP-gear in PvP, and not being able to use PvE gear there which took considerably more work to gain. These were just a few of the things that drove me away from the game.

Do I miss WoW? No, and I feel as if I could never go back now that I play a game like Eve, where players make their own content and shape the universe as they see fit. I do miss some of the people I met in WoW though.

I'd so love to go back to EVE it's a really brilliant game. For me though the have made it like an old boys club, people must be on close to 200 mill SP by now? I don't want to wait years to be at that level.

Maybe an old boys club is the wrong turn of phrase, but I hope you get what I mean :)
