Anyone know?

There is a massive archive somewhere but who owns it?

Bugs me that football history is Premier League onwards for the most part.

Liverpool harped on about 18 times for about 20 years

It’s just easier to track everything from the PL era because of all the data collected.

The FA will own most of it, MOTD etc had to buy the rights even before the PL

Lol what a load of rubbish. People didn't keep track of data before the PL? :D

As for the OP's question, if he's asking about rights to old coverage then it will be the EFL for League football or whoever bought the TV rights back then, depending on the exact terms of the contract.

Not nearly to the extent they do now, look at all the data. There is no way we have running stats from the 80s or earlier for the full team. Heat maps, movement, sprints, off the ball sprints etc

I’d be shocked if they did. There just wasn’t enough cameras back in the day.

Who mentioned heat maps and sprints? Most of that only happened in the last 10 years so are we only counting what happened in the last 10 years? I'm not sure how any of this relates to the question in the OP anyway but your point was a load of nonsense - how many League titles (the point you made), FA Cup's etc a club has won is fully documented.

Yes relatively basic information like goal scorers, wins and losses are and were tracked. What we don't get is things like percentage possession, passes completed, expected goals, fixture difficulty etc.
