Who uses hybird sleep in vista??

fat-600: You might need to update your bios. I accidenetly put my PC in to sleep twice (vista, so S3 sleep IIRC) and it locked my PC up. I then did it on purpose to test it and it locked up again. Updated my bios to the latest one and it works every time now - there was a description on the bios saying that it fixed a certain CPU (3GHz model, mine is 2.66GHz) in S3 sleep mode so I thought I would gve it a try and it worked.

I ran into a problem with putting it into sleep mode, when i pushed the power button to turn it on, the fans and everything would spin up, then stop and it would turn off. 3 secs later it would do the same again and it would continue to loop doin this until i switched off the PSU and took out the cord.

Only used the feature by accident as thought it was the shut down button in the start menu, lol.

Same problem here with hibernation.

Never tried Hybrid sleep.

i've been using S3 sleep for about 5 years now. went through a short period when it wouldn't work which was caused by a faulty USB device and another short period where the PC would crash (occasionally!) on resume which was caused by a faulty graphics card.

usually, my computer goes through about ten to fifteen sleep-->resume cycles a day. never an issue.

On XP I always used hibernation (S4) when I left my computer for a long period and standby (S3 STR) when I was away for a short while, it would always resume from sleep without any problems. With Vista x64 I can't use hibernation as I have 4GB of RAM so I use sleep mode instead, I'm not sure if it does hybrid sleep with 4GB of RAM but it seems to work the same as standby did in XP.

I also use an E.ON PowerDown which drops the power on my display and speakers whenever my computer powers off (including standby/sleep) which is really handy as I can't turn off my display without switching it off at the wall and I always leave my speakers powered on. When my computer is powered back up they both come back on without any problems.
