Who uses sunbeds?

As I've already said it's private I'm not going to be baited into explaining it.

why bring it up

aside from the fact that no doctor actually told you to use a sunbed for your medical condition and you're silly enough to believe its a good idea

I knew what he was saying was rubbish anyway. I'm just trying to get him to explain what he said lol.

it doesn't require explaining, just reading comprehension... the chance that you will get skin cancer increasing by 87% doesn't mean that the chance you get skin cancer is 87%

I've gone and sent a message by trust to Osprey since he's not being a douche about it. I had expected people might have taken my word for it without having to do that. I'm not prepared to discuss my intimate medical health on a public forum.

I'm guessing The Hawk could be referring to Psoriasis which some suffers are encouraged to use sunbeds as treatment. Obviously his personal life is his own so I wouldn't expect him to confirm or deny this.

I don't know any specifics so it would be wrong of me to comment further.

UVB, the type of radiation usually blamed for skin tumours, mainly damages the top layer of the skin. However, the outer cells are renewed and replaced every four weeks or so.

In contrast, UVA, which is associated with wrinkles, did more harm deeper down. Some of the cells damaged by UVA grow and divide very quickly and if they are damaged, the risk of cancer is higher.

Sunbeds predominantly use UVA at far greater intensities than you would get during normal sun exposure. About says it all.

you state something ridiculous and you expect people to take your word for it? erm ok... If you're not going to discuss it then it was kind of pointless to bring it up as its just a stupid remark with no substance to it

I know someone who uses one as well which is prescribed by a doctor, so the haulk might not be talking ****

seems dubious...

British Association of Dermatologists' view on it:

http://www.epgpatientdirect.org/new...beds-should-not-be-used-to-treat-skin-disease

People who suffer from skin disorders, such as psoriasis, are advised not to use sunbeds in the hope it will improve their condition, according to the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD).

Nina Goad of the BAD explained that while hospitals use UV treatment for specific skin diseases including psoriasis, this is utilised in a carefully controlled environment and is not the same as a sunbed.

[...]

"Using a sunbed is not the way to tackle a skin disorder – in fact, doing so just puts you at greater risk of developing skin cancer," she warned.

"Sunbeds not only increase the risk of skin cancer but also lead to skin ageing, such as wrinkles and a leathery complexion. In this respect, they will worsen your skin in the long-term, not improve it."

using sunbeds is just stupid tbh...
