I got a computer to diagnose the other day. I originally suspected the PSU. I went through the diagnosis process and eliminated everything. GPU, RAM etc. It wouldn't post. So it was bound to be the PSU!!
It arrives. Install it and nothing happens. So I then think... hmmm, must be the mobo. I tried a new CPU also just in case. New mobo installed. Nothing!
Tries old PSU again, nothing!
So after swapping every single component. I still had the amber light on the mobo. No post beeps as there is no speaker.
I started to question myself. Am I going nuts!! I've swapped everything. Bearing in mind it's custom coolers also so it's not exactly seconds to swap out the components.
I seen the keyboard light up at the end and thought, hmmm??
Turns out in the end the monitor cable had fell out the back. I was absolutely raging. Hours of headaches and diagnosis out the window!!
So now I need to go back to the beginning and re diagnose all the parts to find out exactly what the problem really is as I have no idea now.
So the top tip is. If your PC doesn't POST. Don't assume it's the PC... check the monitor as well!
Disaster!
